好聽的清唱 "Tom's Diner" ~ Suzanne Vega 蘇珊薇格

而且當這首寫出來的時候我只有3歲 O_O!!

歌的由來是這樣的

1981年11月18日清晨，天下著小雨，
Suzanne又來到這家“Tom’s Restaurant”喝咖啡。
這家飯店位於紐約上城第112街和百老匯街交界處，
小飯館的飯菜做得併不可口但價錢還算便宜。
店夥計給Suzanne倒咖啡倒了一半便把她丟下不管
跑去和一個剛進門的熟識的女顧客打招呼，
於是Suzanne只好自己往咖啡裡加牛奶了。
順手拿起當天的《紐約郵報》看了起來，
上面講到了一個她不認識的女演員的死訊，
Suzanne不感興趣，又去翻看漫畫版，
此時意外的發現窗外一個女人朝她看，
Suzanne看著那個女人才發現她並沒有看她，
而是看玻璃鏡中的自己…
這些原本馬賽克式的瑣事組合就在那時那地
深深的觸動了這個孤獨敏感的女人。
Suzanne覺得自己像一家冰冷的照相機，
驀然的注視著周圍發生的一切，
卻沒有了自己的想法，純粹一個旁觀者；
另一方面，又覺得人與人之間身影可以隔得那麼近，
心靈卻依舊離得那麼遠。
這些情緒恐怕在大城市生活的人都曾有過，
但Suzanne卻沒有讓那些情緒輕易消散，
於是就有了這首《Tom’s Diner》。

Tom's Diner I am sitting in the morning At the diner on the corner I am waiting at the counter For the man to pour the coffee And he fills it only halfway And before I even argue He is looking out the window At somebody coming in "It is always nice to see you" Says the man behind the counter To the woman who has come in She is shaking her umbrella And I look the other way As they are kissing their hellos I'm pretending not to see them And instead I pour the milk And I open up the paper There's a story of an actor Who had died while he was drinking It was no one I had heard of And I'm turning to the horoscope And looking for the funnies When I'm feeling someone watching me And so I raise my head There's a woman on the outside Looking inside. Does she see me? No she does not really see me Cause she sees her own reflection And I'm trying not to notice That she's hitching up her skirt And while she's straightening her stockings Her hair has gotten wet Oh, this rain it will continue Through the morning as I'm listening To the bells of the cathedral I am thinking of your voice... And of the midnight picnic Once upon a time before the rain began... I finish up my coffee It's time to catch the train Da da da da...

湯姆的店 早上，我坐在 街角的餐廳裡 站在櫃台邊 等裡面的人來倒咖啡 他只替我倒了半杯 我才要抗議 他頭已經轉向窗外 看著正走進來的人 「我總是好高興看到妳」 櫃台後面的人 對著剛進來的女的說 這女的還在把傘甩乾 當他們親吻打招呼的時候 我把頭轉開 假裝沒有看到 沒辦法，只好自己倒牛奶 我打開報紙 有個報導說 某個演員喝酒喝到翹／掛了 只是個我沒聽說過的傢伙 於是我翻到星座版 看看有沒有什麼好玩的 突然我覺得有人瞪著我看 所以我抬起頭 窗外有個女的 正朝餐廳裡瞧，她看到我了嗎？ 沒有，她不是真的看到我 因為她看到的是自己的倒影 我盡量不要去注意 她正用力把裙頭拉高 當她低頭把絲襪拉直的時候 她的頭髮都淋溼了 哎，看來整個早上 這雨都會下個不停，我聽著 教堂傳來的鐘聲 想念起你的聲音 還有好久好久以前，雨還沒來的時候 我們曾經共度的午夜野餐 我喝掉咖啡 得去趕火車了 Da da da da…
